Ae I wan go mug leh.Which brings me to the question. Why does "mug", mean "to study" in the Singaporean context. Isit also applicable to other countries too? Do the students say "mug" over there too? Or do they just say "hey I want to study" instead?
Because today I was thinking of mugging and muggers and all other words associated with it, that I thought to myself, doesn't "mug" mean street robbery? "Mug" may also mean a cup. But that is not the point. The point is, how did we come to match the word "mug" with studying? I checked my dictionary, but it does not say anything about studying inside, and I've never heard any other people outside of Singapore say it before.
Just something to think about. And if anyone knows the answer. Tell me please.
And yes, I still want to study.
